Philharmonia Budapest Concert Agency

Philharmonia Budapest Ltd. is the oldest and one of the most important professional concert and festival organizing agencies to date. Founded in 1952 with the title Országos Filharmónia, it was the sole organizer of classical music concerts country-wide for decades. In 1997, reorganizations resulted in three territorially separate units with centres in Budapest, Pécs and Miskolc. The firm with headquarters in Budapest and an experience of several thousand past programmes was first working as a company in the public interest, and later, after 2009, as a non-profit company. The agency organizes adult and youth concerts in Budapest and the Upper Transdanubian region (including the counties Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom, Veszprém, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Vas and Zala). It announces its own subscription and individual concerts for adults in Budapest, Győr, Szombathely, Sárvár, Sopron, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, Tapolca, Keszthely, Nagykanizsa and Zalaegerszeg. It offers season tickets for the youth in more than 60 localities; as a result, nearly 100,000 students could attend and enjoy concerts in the country last year. Its important mission is to contribute to the music education of the youth, to organize contemporary music concerts and to help young artists starting their career.

As an organiser, it is associated with traditional music festivals: Early Music Days (June), International Bartók Seminar and Festival, Szombathely (July), Budapest International Music Competition (September), Music of Our Age (contemporary music festival in early October).
