Tamás Velenczei

After studies in Szeged und Budapest, he studied on an American grant in California, later at the Chicago Symphonic Orchestra under Adolph Herseth with support from the foundation established by Sir George Solti and György Soros.
 
From 1983 on he was member of the Radio Orchestra, then solo trumpeter of the later permanent Budapest Festival Orchestra.
For long years he appeared with such notabilities of the Hungarian musical life as János Rolla and the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra.
He has been prizewinner at several international competitions in Hungary, Italy and France.
Since March 2000 he has been solo trumpeter of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
  
Apart from his orchestral engagements he also teaches at the Orchestral Academy founded by Herbert von Karajan, in various chamber ensembles and at the Liszt Ferenc University of Music, Budapest.
